The annual four-day event Open Days ( 7 – 10 October) is a networking platform for experts in local and regional development around Europe. Thousands of local and regional government representatives travel to Brussels to meet EU and national officials, businesses, academics, and others to exchange good practices in policy areas from economic development to social inclusion. This year’s theme is how cities and regions are working towards achieving the goals of the Europe 2020 strategy.
Among the 101 workshops organised at this year’s event, EUROCITIES has presented work from CASCADE project, with the lectures of Terrassa and Birmingham. In ‘Cities sharing smart, sustainable energy solutions’, participants heard about how cities are networking on energy efficiency in buildings, renewable energy, and energy in urban transport through the CASCADE project.

The election took place during the UCLG world council held in Rabat on October 1-4 under the theme: “Imagine Society, Build Democracy”.
