Within the scope of action of the Pla director Smart City Terrassa are the Guia d’Activitats i Serveis Educatius and the Sentilo Terrassa project.
For this school year 2015-2016 has been organized a new activity called Sentilo for Kids that aims to engage high school students with the goals and interests of the city through a project that will help to spread the benefits of technology and knowledge linked to the Smart Cities such as Sentilo platform.
The project consist of two phases, the first phase will take to build a model city with diverse sensors that transmit their data to the Sentilo Terrassa platform. In a second phase, the resulting model will be used to serve a new activity on Sentilo Terrassa and Smart City aimed at primary school students by next school year. It is evaluating in a coordinated way the possibility that these future workshops can be carried out by the students participating in Sentilo for Kids.
At the first phase of the project, technical reports have been received from two schools: Escola Sant Domènech Savi (Salesians) coordinated by David Laje and Centre Educatiu Vedruna Vall (Vedruna) coordinated by Miguel Blanco. Given the quality and complementarity of both, and budgets involved, it has been possible reward both and therefore cover the construction costs of the models listed in the reports.
The centers have been able to reflect it in its curriculum project and have expressed their desire for a certain continuity with such projects given both transversal skills required as the return on training to develop ICT-related professions.
In the coming months the students along with their coordinators will carry out the construction of models and connectivity to Sentilo Terrassa platform with the support of the City and the information compiled by the community of Sentilo for sensors controlled from Arduino or from Raspberry Pi.
