Paterson. Versos amb remor de bús urbà

Paterson, de Jim Jarmush.

Avui us servim una lectura amb imatge, música i paraula. Volem xivar-vos una triple emoció lectora: una peli, Paterson; els temes de la seva banda sonora, Paterson soundtrack; i, els poemes que els personatges ens hi diuen. Acompanyeu-nos a passejar pels carrers d’una ciutat de fum. Terrassa? No, no parlem de Terrassa. Deixeu-vos conduir una mica més lluny, anem a Paterson, New Jersey. Però, alguns dels seus carrers bé podrien ser algun dels nostres.

A Paterson les escenes ens passen davant dels ulls amarades de la poesia de William Carlos Williams, de Ron Padgett i del mateix Jim Jarmusch.

Aquesta és la seva banda sonora poètica. Una poesia que fa remor de bús urbà. I els seus versos es llegeixen així…

This Is Just To Say, de William Carlos Williams.

Aquest poema és un bon testimoni de la poesia centrada en l’experiència quotidiana de Williams. I Jarmush, admirador d’aquesta poesia li ret homenatge fent que Adam Driver (Paterson) el llegeixi a Golshifteh Farahani (Laura) quan aquesta li demana.

We have plenty of matches in our house
We keep them on hand always

Is Ohio Blue Tip
Though we used to prefer Diamond Brand
That was before we discovered

They are excellently packaged
Sturdy little boxes
With dark and light blue and white labels
With words lettered
In the shape of a megaphone
As if to say even louder to the world
Here is the most beautiful match in the world
It’s one-and-a-half-inch soft pine stem
Capped by a grainy dark purple head
So sober and furious and stubbornly ready
To burst into flame
Lighting, perhaps the cigarette of the woman you love
For the first time
And it was never really the same after that

I become the cigarette and you the match
Or I the match and you the cigarette

Another One

When you’re a child you learn there are three dimensions
Height, width and depth
Like a shoebox
Then later you hear there’s a fourth dimension
Time
Hmm
Then some say there can be five, six, seven…
I knock off work
Have a beer at the bar
I look down at the glass and feel glad

De Ron Padgett encara no us podem convidar a llegir cap llibre. Fins fa poques setmanes era inèdit en català i/o castellà. Però des d’aquí celebrem que l’editorial Kriller 71 ha publicat recentment Cómo ser perfecto, una antologia bilingüe.

I per acabar aquest apunt, una joieta de poema escrit per Jim Jarmush i posat en veu i llibreta de la joveníssima poeta admiradora d’Emily Dickinson.
