The objective of the network is to endorse advanced technologies aimed at achieving green, intelligent, and sustainable growth that contributes to improving citizenship\u2019s quality of life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Terrassa is one of the 88 cities, from 192 all over Europe, that have been chosen in a first round of selection to be part of the ICC, an initiative of the European Commission that wants to support the digital transformation and industrial modernization of the cities to take full advantage of digital technologies and advances.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Over the next two years,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Terrassa City Council will receive expert advice and the necessary tools to promote new technologies aimed at sustainability and the development of the urban resilience management strategy. The objective will focus on the incorporation of new strategies to transform Terrassa into a city where technology\u00a0<\/span><\/span>fosters<\/span><\/span>\u00a0spaces of inclusion,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>participation<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and innovation, safeguards the quality of life, as well as the social and economic development of the city.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The project presented by Terrassa has three specific objectives to be achieved in the short\/medium term: to strengthen the strategy of intelligent specialisation of the city in health and promotion of healthy living, to draw up a Master Plan for urban resilience based on an open and participatory process<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and to continue the implementation of the intelligent city model by reissuing the Smart City Terrassa Master Plan.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/span><\/span>From\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>27<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0February to\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>29<\/span>th<\/span>\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0May, the ICC project team received 130\u00a0<\/span>candidatures<\/span>\u00a0from 192 cities in 20 countries of the European Union and the United Kingdom. Finally, 88 applications were approved, including Terrassa’s, to participate in this ICC challenge over the next two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This is a great opportunity to consolidate the city’s position in the field of innovation and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>S<\/span><\/span>mart<\/span><\/span>\u00a0C<\/span><\/span>ities<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and to take advantage of advanced technologies to tackle the crisis of the Covid-19 pandemic, strengthening the economy\u00a0<\/span><\/span>while using a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>more ecological and intelligent\u00a0<\/span><\/span>approach<\/span><\/span>, which will help to improve the quality of life of citizens and to generate new opportunities for<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0busines<\/span><\/span>s network<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

The end of 2020 marks the end of the Smart City Terrassa Master Plan and therefore the city’s strategy in terms of digital policies will require a new framework of reference.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Therefore<\/span><\/span>, the city\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has the opportunity to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0prepare itself to open up new avenues and update existing ones in order to progress in this field.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
