The City Council of Terrassa, through the European and International Relations Service, has participated from April 26 to 28, 2023, in the Annual Assembly of the European network of textile and related territories, held in the Swedish city de Boras, current headquarters of the association’s presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During three days, the attendees were able to learn first hand the transformative processes that the textile industry is experiencing throughout Europe, especially those aimed at circular fashion; that is, the one that tries to minimize the impact that textiles have on the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the second day, the Annual Meeting took place, the Executive Committee Meeting of the network and a study visit to a company in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The days held at the Textile Fashion Center ended with a workshop on European projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACTE, as an association of textile collectives, promotes collaboration between its members – the city of Terrassa is a founding partner. ACTE covers territories and agents of the entire textile value chain that are based on the heritage of the European textile industry to create new fabrics, new applications of the future, new professional profiles, rethink business models and respond to current challenges such as, for example, the recovery of textile waste on a municipal scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the generation and selective collection of textile waste and municipal footwear in Europe has a regulatory framework that ACTE has worked on through the White Paper (White Paper on Textile Waste Management) -presented during the Assembly-, and which will shortly be mandatory compliance for municipalities. It is an opportunity in the context of a necessary circular economy, aligned with our Terrassa Urban Agenda and the ODS of the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Group work, within the framework of the Assembly’s activities, has shown that sharing methodology, initiatives and European projects, such as Interreg, allows us to be better prepared to face the challenges that we all face in the area of \u200b\u200byoung people, design, digital transformation and the so-called new industry, in order to ensure employment and territorial competitiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delegations from Spain, Italy, Portugal and Sweden attended the Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
