The European and International Relations service has participated in several international events organized as part of the Brussels Urban Summit, from 12 to 15 June, a unique opportunity to participate in a global strategic dialogue to help define our shared urban future.
They discussed the challenges that cities are currently facing, such as climate change, conflicts, migration, urban growth, or inequality, which are testing the foundations of urban life.
Sessions were organized to share innovative local policies to address these challenges, for a greener and more inclusive future for our cities and future generations, as today’s decisions will shape the future for decades to come.
The Brussels Urban Summit brought together three prominent international city conferences: the 14th World Metropolis Congress, the EUROCITIES Annual Conference, and the sixth OECD Mayors’ Summit for Inclusive Growth Initiatives.
The service participated in the EUROCITIES Annual Conference, and in a session of the Network of Local and Regional Governments on Time Policies entitled “Time Policies: an opportunity to live better in our cities” in which they presented examples of cities such as Strasbourg, Bogota, and Barcelona.
Finally, the service attended a seminar of a program of the European Commission, with the aim of knowing the requirements and procedure to participate and capture European funding for projects.
